Kaden Got His Wings

I am very upset and sad to let you all know the unfortunate news. Kaden passed away in our arms and comfort at 8:15am this morning. We are grieving the loss of our little warrior who will forever be missed but never forgotten. He fought for a very hard 29 days. He is my hero and changed many a lives. All of our doctors & nurses love to tell us that they have never seen such a fighter how how he changed their hearts and minds. My favorite nurse even told me that she is a better nurse because of Kaden. I do not think she will ever know the joy that she brought to my heart by telling me that. Kaden was a sweet little angel that God graced our lives with, even if only for a short while. I am heart broken and shook, but not shattered. I know that Kaden has a purpose, and that he is with God and all his cdh friends and they are playing and laughing in their perfect healthy bodies and hoping that we will all understand that God has a plan. I can speculate on why God and Kaden chose wings instead of feet, but we may never know. All I do know is that God is lucky to have such a blessed soul to keep his company. My son was nothing short of a warrior and will forever be etched in my heart and memory.I appreciate all of the support and prayers and lung function chants. They bought us 6 more days. Dr. Stork said that it is nothing short of a miracle that Kaden did not pass away last Wednesday (6 days ago). She said that there is no medical explanation and probably will never be for him holding on so strong and surviving those six more days. All of his gases said he was in distress but my champion warrior defied the odds and kept his oxygen and pulse and BP stable until this early morning. Kaden's service will probably be on Saturday at 11 am. James and I again want to thank you all for your support, we are handling this as good as we are because of all of you. Kadens journey is not over, there are many things I plan on doing in his honor and memory.

We were devastated to read the news tonight about Kaden. We have been praying for him and I have had you, specifically, in my heart since the end of last week. Kaden's courage and your faith has been an inspiration to me and many others I imagine. I can see the all sufficient love of Christ in you right now. I am humbled by your willingness to trust Him in your deepest sorrow. It was a scenario I was your situation that I feared would wreck my faith, yet I see you clinging with such boldness. You, James and Kayleigh will be in my constant prayers. May God bless your family with greatness for the faithfulness you have displayed.

I am so sorry to hear of Kaden's passing, he will be joined in heaven by very special CDH angels including my Elli. I know that there are no words to help heal your broken heart, but just know that he was a fighter and touch the lives of more people in his short life than most do in thier entire lives. My friend left this comment on my blog and i think it is fitting

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

I am so sorry for you loss and if you ever need to talk, know that I am there for you as your loss hits so close to home as my Elli lost her CDH battle 8 dayw ago. You will be in my thoughts and prayers for many days to come.

I am so sorry for your loss and glad that Kaden is now breathing easy and that you had the extra days with him.
The amount of heart these CDH babies have is amazing, isn't it? I'm sure that God gives them to special people that will cherish every moment they get with their babies and shower them with enough love to last them until they get to hold them again in heaven. It seems like there is an overwhelming number of tiny angels lately, but we all have a vast number of older angels up there just itching to cuddle some babies.
Please know you and your families are in my prayers.

I found your blog from Elliot Reed's blog. I wanted to let you know how sorry I am for your loss. My heart breaks for you and your family. Kaden is a beautiful little boy and so strong (I read your entire blog).

I too have a son, Kaden, who was born with a CDH (we almost named him Kaden James too, but decided on Kaden Thomas). He is now four and endured many struggles as well. We almost lost him several times. We left the NICU right before he was 11 months old. We have also recently lost our baby girl from a congenital heart defect. She was a little over 3 months old. I know the struggles you have been through having a CDH baby as well as going through the loss of a baby. It was very hard for us to explain the loss to Kaden, but felt it was definitely necessary. We now keep Ava's memory alive by letting Kaden pick out a bedtime story for himself as well as one for his baby sister. We put her picture in bed as we are reading, then pray for everyone, including Ava, blow her kisses in Heaven, kiss her picture and sing her a song. I thought I would share that with you just incase you are looking for a way to help your daughter get through things.

Angel Kaden was blessed with unbelievable strength. You have been given a gift that not many get. God trusted you with one of His most precious angels. He knew that you and your husband would provide Kaden with so much love and support for the time he was here. I am sure that Kaden felt your love and strength which helped him keep going. He wanted to stay with you as long as he possible could.

Please feel free to visit our blog when you feel up to it. If you need to talk to someone who understands, my ears are open. Know that my prayers will be with you all. Remember to hold on to each other.

My heart is breaking with/for you all. You know I have said on several occassions that since I do not have children, I will live vicariously through you. I love Kayleigh and Kaden as if they were my own.

Before Kaden was born, I had a really bad case of the "poor me's" and just didn't see the point of making an effort in life anymore or fighting for anything anymore. Seeing Kaden and how he fought so hard for every breath and jumped every hurdle renewed my faith in humanity and God. He reminded me how important it is to keep fighting and stay strong and never give up no matter how bad the odds. So, in a way, Kaden saved me by reminding me how precious life is and how important faith in God is. I thank him (and you) for that and know that he is in Heaven playing with all his CDH friends without a worry.

Thank you for letting me be a part of his life, and for trusting me to be a part of Kayleigh's.
